FDA Issues A Dog Food Alert

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is releasing a National warning regarding a certain kind of chicken strips or treats that can pose serious health hazards for dogs.

According to recent news, there are some cases the contaminated strips can present life-threatening risks to pets.

The products that have been under investigation are marketed mostly as chicken tenders, treats or strips. The number of complaints regarding the several canine illnesses caused by the consumption of the alleged contaminated treats is increasing, pushing the FDA to look into the matter with more dedication and attention.

The FDA assures consumers the probably contaminated product is manufactured only in China. Some of the health issues linked to these products include an increase of sugar in the dog’s blood (Fanconi syndrome) and kidney failure. Sick animals sustain certain symptoms like vomiting, decreased activity, diarrhea and increased water consumption.

As a Federal Way personal injury lawyer, I urge pet owners in Washington to make sure the treats they purchase come from trustworthy sources.

Personal injury lawyers are aware that a dog’s health is always a priority to its owner. For more information on future recall news, stay tuned to this blog by returning to this address regularly.

Flooded Washington State Roadway Filled with Salmon

The local news sources in Washington State are reporting the strange salmon invasion in a state roadway that happened yesterday due to a major storm. According to the news, the heavily flooded roadway was filled with salmon, which is a type of migrating fish that may have been slightly confused after the powerful storm.

Western Washington felt the effects of the strong weather change coming from the Pacific Northwest making this Thanksgiving holiday a very stormy season.

The Seattle area is expected to have three inches of rainfall until Thanksgiving day while winds may reach 50 to 70 mph.

The video shows the migrating fish trying to swim across the flooded Skokomish Valley Road. Authorities hope that the salmon trying to find their way back into the water will avoid the road areas near Shelton.

As a Seattle car accident lawyer I hope that the unexpected storms won’t cause traffic or accidents related to the extreme weather changes. I urge all drivers to stay alert and make sure your vehicles are in top condition for all the holiday driving you and your loved ones are about to be doing.

Personal injury lawyers should be of great assistance whenever you’re involved in an accident caused by the recklessness of others. Don’t hesitate to contact a personal injury lawyer in your area when needed.

Ashland Brand Glass Vase Recalled, Possible Laceration Threat

According to more news and reports regarding product recalls, Michaels Stores have issued a recall for the Glass Vase produced by the Ashland Brand.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with Health Canada announced today that the Ashland™ Glass Vase may turn out to be a laceration hazard. The company stated that after some reports of involuntary glass shattering surfaced, they decided to investigate. Some of the reports stated that a few people got hurt. The U.S. CPSC has ruled the product unsafe for regular use for consumers.

The news report show that approximately 28,000 items must be recalled from both the United States and Canada. The firm stated that the product is made of clear glass and it comes in a rectangular shape. The model number printed on the recalled product is “425827”.

The Michaels Stores firm, which is responsible for distributing the product claims that the vase being recalled can break easily whenever a consumer simply picks them up. Such a frail object shouldn’t be distributed and all of those already sold should be returned immediately.

As an Everett personal injury lawyer I hope that not a single serious injury will be reported from consumers who have purchased this product. A personal injury lawyer can always assist you whenever you’re involved in an accident caused by the negligence of a company, don’t hesitate to contact a lawyer in your area.

Products from Unsanitary Washington State Facility to be Seized by U.S. Marshals

The U.S. Marshals were requested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration office to seize food products, according to the news. A Washington-based facility kept a processing and food storage location that was claimed to be unsanitary for the State’s standards. According to official reports, the warehouse was inspected by the FDA. The investigators found a very active infestation of rodents and insects in both warehouse and processing areas.

The first letter issued by the FDA regarding this problem was filed on September 29th. It claimed that the food being kept in the Washington State facility was possibly adulterated, taking into account the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The complaint asked for a speedy action from the Court. A warrant was issued on the same day for the U.S. Marshals to be allowed to take hold of all products present in the facility.

According to the FFDCA, after amended by the FDA Food Safety and Modernization Act, the FDA may order the detaining of all types of food during inspection, specially when food adulteration or misbranding is suspected to have taken place.

As a Kirkland personal injury lawyer I’m happy with the fact that the FDA is upholding a competent food inspection nationwide. Sadly enough, many personal injury lawyers are familiar with cases related to severe illnesses of individuals exposed to contaminated food products. Don’t hesitate in contacting a lawyer if that has been your case.

Raw Cheddar Recall Issued due to Listeria Contamination

FDA reports and news sources show that Golden Glen Creamery has issued a voluntary recall of their Raw Cheddar product. The Washington State-based company says their raw cheddar is potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This organisms cause fatal infections in children, individuals with a weak immune system and elderly people.

When infected by Listeria, healthy people will suffer from severe headaches, fever, nausea, stiffness, diarrhea and abdominal pain. The Washington State company allegedly claimed that there were no reports regarding any listeria infection related to their products.

The recalled items were distributed to retail stores in the State of Washington and the Golden Glen’s on-farm store has displayed the item for sale as well between September 22nd and November 5th. The product has a label in which we may read ‘Raw Cheddar’, ‘Natural handcrafted cheese produced by the Jensen ladies.’ and ‘GOLDEN GLEN CREAMERY’. The code of the infected batch ends with 864.

After the Washington State Department of Agriculture performed an analysis of a sample, officials stated that tests were positive for Listeria contamination. Golden Glen Creamery has ceased to distribute the product so the FDA and the Washington State Department of Agriculture may investigate what caused the infection.

As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I hope that nobody gets sick from consuming this product. In any moment in your life you find yourself dealing with a case regarding contaminated food that will threaten your health, don’t hesitate to contact a personal injury lawyer to answer your doubts.

Tanning Beds Prove Greater Risk Then Previously Believed

In a recent study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, it was found that radiation emitted from tanning beds may have more carcinogenic properties than previously believed.

British researchers have discovered that ultraviolet rays emitted by a standard tanning bed are able to deeply penetrate the user’s skin, causing potentially significant damage. In the study, participants were exposed to the ultraviolet rays (UVA1) from the tanning beds as well as to shorter wavelength ultraviolent rays (UVB). It was recorded during the study that the UVA1 rays penetrated the participant’s skin all the way to the base layer of the skin, where the rays induced lesions. The UVB rays, causing the same lesions, induced a similar effect. However, the UVB rays did not penetrate the skin as deeply.

This study concluded that indoor tanning beds increase the risk of melanoma in users. Recently, the State of California passed a law banning the use of tanning beds in children under the age of 18. The law is the most restrictive of its kind in the US, though several states have similar laws. Prior to the passing of this law, children in California, ages 14 to 18, were allowed to use tanning beds pending the written permission of a parent or legal guardian.

As a Bellingham personal injury lawyer, I’ve long seen the effects that these devices have had on users over the years. If you have developed melanoma and believe it to be from the use of an artificial tanning device offering no warning of the dangers, it may be in your best interests to speak with a personal injury lawyer.
