Trek Bikes Recalled After Alleged Saddle Clamp Problems

Regarding recent news articles, there has been a recall issued for over 27,000 bikes due to issues related to the saddle clamps manufactured by the Trek bicycle company. The company felt the recall was made necessary after the problem was reported.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated vigorously that all the recalled bikes are allegedly from the 2012 model year. Makes included in the malfunctioning match include the 7.3 FX including WSD and Disc models, Livestrong FX including WSD models, 7.4 FX including WSD models, 7.2 FX including WSD models, District, Livestrong District and 9th District.

The malfunctioning piece forces the bolt to break, according to the company. The breaking of the piece can lead the saddle to come off the seat unexpectedly. Such issue could cause the rider to be ejected from the bicycle and injured severely. It is not known just yet if there were claims of accidents related to the recalled bicycles according to the company’s announcements.

As a Seattle personal injury lawyer, I urge all riders who own any of the recalled models to contact the manufacturer so the affected saddle can be replaced completely free of charge. Possibly Mislabeled Seafood under FDA Investigation

According to many news outlets, there is an investigation being held by the Food and Drug Administration regarding the mislabeling of seafood packages that come from all over the world. Many cases of seafood species being packed and labeled as something else have been allegedly reported.

The seafood trade association has been reportedly discussing the issue in a recent conference. The DNA tests will start being held by the FDA soon. They will be using many samples of fish from warehouses and distribution centers. Imports will also be targeted. The NFI claims that the most advanced DNA bar coding technology will be put to good use for the testing. The genetic material is taken from each fish sample, is compared against all the gene fragments in store and then determined whether labels match the species inside the packages.

Regarding the mislabeling errors, FDA firmly believes that most of it must have happened after the product left the manufacturer’s facilities. According to reports, they think the mistake took place at the retail level.  A staggering number of 1,000 seafood samples will be tested.

As a Seattle personal injury attorney, I hope that cases of personal injury related to product mislabeling will end drastically after this extensive investigation. If you ever find yourself a victim in a similar case, don’t delay in contacting a personal injury lawyer in your area.

NADA Offers Tire Safety Advice for the Winter

In a news release, the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) stated that maintaining your vehicle’s tires before and during the holiday season will help in saving you money and increasing your chances for staying safe on the road.

Well-maintained tires help aid in reducing fuel costs and keeping your vehicle stable while on the road. NADA has offered several tips on how to optimize your tire’s functionality and safety.

When choosing your tires, consult your owner’s manual to make sure the ones you pick coincide with the manufacturer’s standards. This is extremely important because different tires have different purposes and uses. Variables such as weight standards and tread depth can have a significant impact on your vehicle’s performance, handling and fuel consumption.

Always check the pressure before making long trips. Having a tire gauge on-hand is essential during inclement weather months to ensure your vehicle’s safety. Low tire pressure can lead to increased fuel consumption, premature tire degradation and tearing.

Regular tire check-ups are essential to maintaining your vehicle. NADA recommends rotating tires at least every 6000 miles. This allows technicians to detect mechanical malfunctions that may result in imbalances and accidents. They also aid in helping to know when tires need to be replaced.

Last, because tires are specific to the type of vehicle they are paired with, make sure that you never overload your vehicle with too much weight. This can lead to tires overheating and premature failure.

As an Everett personal injury lawyer, I hope that sharing this information will aid in keeping you and your family safe on the road during the holiday season. If you’ve been injured in an accident that was the result of a defective auto part, it may be in your best interests to speak with a personal injury lawyer in your area.
