School Bus Hit By Vehicle, No Injuries Reported

According to the local news, an accident involving a school bus and a small vehicle happened last Tuesday sometime around 8:40 in the morning in Pasco, Washington.

The official reports from the Washington State Patrol reveal that the vehicle hit the school bus at the intersection of Fenway Drive and Road 60. The troopers at the scene announced that three students were on board at the time of the accident but weren’t injured in any way.

Teen Loses Control After Attempting To Pass Semi-Truck

According to several local news sources, an unfortunate accident sent two teens from Franklin County to the Hospital last Saturday. The official reports from the Washington State Patrol revealed that a 16-year-old was driving a Honda Accord on the southbound lanes of Highway 17 when he attempted to pass a semi-truck but unfortunately lost control of his vehicle.

The Accord went off the road to the northbound shoulder, rolled down and it came to rest on its wheels. According to the authorities, the teens were wearing their seatbelts.

The accident happened some time around 3 in the afternoon just northwest of Connell. The road conditions and the speeding along with the inattention of the teen behind the wheel caused the crash, a Washington State Patrol officer said.

As a Seattle car accident lawyer I’m certain that the lives of the teens involved in this accident were spared because they were using their seat belts properly. I urge all readers to remember that vehicular safety devices are designed for you and your loved ones so no one will be harmed if an accident happens.

Cell Phone Ban Not Enough, Texting While Driving Up By Half Since Last Year

A recent study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration denotes that 2 out of every 10 drivers admit to replying to emails and text messages while conducting a vehicle.

Recent efforts to ban the use of cellphones while driving has yet to catch on all across the Nation since statics indicate that the rise in use of handheld devices in the last year has resulted in an even greater number of fatal accidents. Such fatalities could have possibly been avoided if drivers kept their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road.

The agency’s survey revealed that most drivers of every age group admitted they would answer a phone call while handling a vehicle and didn’t feel they were doing anything wrong. Half of the individuals interviewed by the agency who were 21 to 24 years old confirmed they engaged in texting while driving.

The government agency leading the studies voices a strong opinion regarding this matter: only education won’t change this picture. They confirm that only steady law enforcement and strong laws will keep drivers safe from distracted driving.

Educational campaigns demonstrating the dangers of cell phone use combined with a strict police ticketing system has proven to work before, it’s time this will happen again across the nation.

As a Seattle personal injury lawyer, I urge all drivers to stay away from the temptation of using your cell phones while driving. Maintaining the focus on the road will save your life and the lives of others.

Personal injury lawyers should be of great assistance whenever you feel like you were the victim of the distracted behavior of others, don’t hesitate in contacting one whenever you need to.

Source Says Chevy Volt Power Cords Pose Fire Hazard

Many news outlets have been reporting recent fires related to the Chevy Volt batteries.

After public pressure, GM promised to give every volt owner a free loaner while the likelihood of a defective batch of batteries manufactured by GM is being investigated by the authorities but more news have now surfaced.

According to the news, some consumers have reported Volt cords overheating and presenting melting issues. The carmaker claims the problem with the cord isn’t linked to the manufacturer but with the owners’ wiring. GM has redesigned the item and replaced an undisclosed number of official cords.

Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration never disclosed any owners’ complaints regarding Volt cords, overheating problems have been observed by sources linked to Yahoo! Autos.

The cord comes with the charging station that must be installed by Volt owners. The cord was designed to be a stopgap but according to information gathered from the official Volt website forum, 19 out of 53 users affirmed they had some type of problem with the faulty cords, most had to be replaced by the carmaker.

As a Seattle car accident lawyer I hope Volt owners will contact the carmaker so the proper information regarding the free loaner they’re entitled to can be delivered in a timely manner.

Personal injury lawyers are always eager to answer your questions related to injuries you may have suffered due to accidents caused by third parties.

Certain Brand Grape Tomatoes Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination

The Consumer Reports website has announced a recall from the Front Row Produce company due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

According to the news reports, 10-ounce pint and 10-pound bulk of grape tomatoes produced by Front Row Produce and distributed by Rio Queen Citrus should not be eaten. Consumers must return the product to the place of purchase immediately. The Food and Drug Administration agency discovered the salmonella bacteria after Rio Queen Citrus performed a random test on the product.

The news went on to confirm that there haven’t been any report of illnesses regarding the consumption of the alleged contaminated product and that this recall does not affect other products produced by the same company.

The recalled product comes in a clear plastic package, the lot numbers that should be observed are: 2310802, 2310405 and 2510401. The label has the Front Row Produce logo stamp. The company has decided to add a green sticker to all produce that is not contaminated with Salmonella so consumers know that if they’re purchasing a package from Front Row Produce without the green sticker it’s because it might not be safe for consumption.

As an Everett personal injury attorney I urge all to be extremely attentive to food recalls. Salmonella is very dangerous, any personal injury lawyer can tell you how devastating this contamination can be to infants, frail adults and people with weak immune systems.

FDA Issues A Dog Food Alert

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is releasing a National warning regarding a certain kind of chicken strips or treats that can pose serious health hazards for dogs.

According to recent news, there are some cases the contaminated strips can present life-threatening risks to pets.

The products that have been under investigation are marketed mostly as chicken tenders, treats or strips. The number of complaints regarding the several canine illnesses caused by the consumption of the alleged contaminated treats is increasing, pushing the FDA to look into the matter with more dedication and attention.

The FDA assures consumers the probably contaminated product is manufactured only in China. Some of the health issues linked to these products include an increase of sugar in the dog’s blood (Fanconi syndrome) and kidney failure. Sick animals sustain certain symptoms like vomiting, decreased activity, diarrhea and increased water consumption.

As a Federal Way personal injury lawyer, I urge pet owners in Washington to make sure the treats they purchase come from trustworthy sources.

Injuries Related to the Use of Bumbo Baby Seats Still Occuring

News sources from all over the country have reported that the previous recall for Bumbo Baby Seats hasn’t seemed to be making much of a difference for the safety of babies nationwide. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued an extension to the original recall so parents stay alert when leaving their babies on the Bumbo Baby Seats.

According to the announcement these items should never be used in elevated surfaces. Reports regarding infants aged 3 to 10 months suffering injuries after falling from the baby seats are still surfacing. Some of the reports claim the infants had skull fractures among other allegedly life-threatening injuries.

The reports show there have been at least 45 incidents related to the same misuse of the Bumbo seats. The last recall issued by the CPSC required the manufacturers to display warning signs advising parents to never place their babies on this product while on elevated surfaces. Since that requirement was followed, 17 reports of skull fractures were brought to the CPSC.

Since 2003, there were 3.85 million seats manufactured by Bumbo Baby Seats International sold all over the country.

As a Tacoma personal injury attorney and a parent, our children’s safety is a priority. Personal injury lawyers are always ready to answer all of your questions regarding cases that happened due to the negligence of companies overlooking the safety of their products.

Effectiveness of Ban Against Cell Phones While Driving Put to Test

Personal injury lawyers understand that using the cell phone while one’s behind the wheel can cause severe or even fatal accidents. Talking or texting while driving isn’t just a distraction, it’s a life-threatening risk.

Even though we are all very aware of these facts, the ban on cell phone use hasn’t been allegedly proved to be as effective as we once thought it would be. According to many news sources, the evidence is simply not conclusive. The reports from the many authorities investigating this show no significant change in the number of crashes due to less cell phone usage on the road.

The news have also stated that the number of cell phones in use since the year of 1990 went from 4 million to 322 million but the number of general car accidents has lowered.

The States where the cell phone usage was banned have seen no difference in the number of crashes, reports the Highway Loss Data Institute. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has noticed an increase in accident claims from drivers hiding their texting because of the ban.

As a Seattle car accident attorney, I understand that distracted driving can lead to many fatal accidents but maybe all we need is some more time to really understand the consequences of the cell phone ban.

Whenever a loved one is involved in an accident that was caused by a distracted driver, don’t hesitate and contact a personal injury lawyer right away.
