Traffic Jam Caused By Accident Over Deception Pass

The local news outlets have reported that an accident that allegedly happened sometime Monday morning slowed the traffic on Highway 20. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 31-year-old woman from Oak Harbor was driving a Toyota Corolla going southbound on Highway 20 over the Deception Pass Bridge when the vehicle collided with the bridge cables.

The official reports from the Washington State Patrol show that initial call led them to believe this was a hit-and-run accident but as far as the authorities know up to this point, there hasn’t been any evidence that leads to a second vehicle being involved in the collision. The Washington State Patrol is still investigating the causes of the accident.

The driver and her passenger were reportedly taken to the hospital as soon as the authorities arrived at the scene. Both lanes of the Highway 20 had to be shut down some time after 7 a.m. and according to official statements, the road was cleared after 7:30 a.m. when traffic faced some lengthy backups.

As an Everett car accident attorney I sincerely hope that both passenger and driver will recover in a timely manner. Hopefully, the Washington State Patrol will investigate the case throughly so the causes behind the collision may be brought to light.

As a personal injury lawyer I insist that all motorists should be extremely careful during the winter season, specially during the early mornings and nighttime. Visibility issues and harsh winter conditions may cause tragic accidents, stay alert.

Crash At I-5 Causes Traffic Jam

According to very recent news, the very two right lanes of Interstate 5 where it interchanges with Interstate 405 are completely blocked because of a collision.

The still very inconclusive reports from the Washington State Patrol say that this was a one-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck.

The driver allegedly has serious injuries although nobody can really say it with certainty. Washington State Department of Transportation has released the footage of the crash and according to what’s been seen, the truck seems to have tried to stop under the overpass without much success.

There are many emergency vehicles stopped by the crash area and according to the last official reports, the conditions for the accident to have happened are not yet known. Authorities are trying to keep the traffic going around the accident scene.

As an Olympia personal injury lawyer I sincerely hope that the truck driver will be able to fully recover in a speedy and hassle free way. I also urge the authorities to work on the investigations that will finally demonstrate what was behind this crash so people can learn from the dangers of the road.

Whenever you’re involved in a truck accident that was completely somebody else’s fault, remember to contact a personal injury lawyer that will be able to assist you promptly.

Three-car Accident Jams the traffic on Interstate 5

According to the news and the Washington State Patrol, morning commute just got a little harder for all drivers taking the Interstate 5 in Lynwood this Monday morning.

Some time after 7 a.m., a collision that involved three different vehicles jammed the traffic. As far as we know, there weren’t many details regarding the reasons behind the accident. It is known however that the backup extended for four miles and made all commuters pretty unhappy.

The Washington State Patrol is still investigating the crash since there were no reports on how it all started or whose fault it might have been. Road conditions or technical issues with the cars could also have influenced the crash.

As a Bellevue car accident lawyer I sincerely hope there aren’t any severe injuries reported from this accident. Although it may have caused a great deal of delay to all commuters who happened to travel through that area, the most important thing is to keep anyone from getting hurt.

Any accident that might have been caused by a third party and that has put your life at risk should be dealt by a professional car accident lawyer that will expose the other driver’s negligence and assist you with your case.

Southbound Hwy-101 Gets Much Anticipated Speed Reduction

News sources reported that the Washington State Department of Transportation posted new speed limit signs on the southbound side of Highway 101 in Olympia Tuesday in the effort of reducing traffic accidents.

The reduction in speed affects only the southbound lanes of Highway 101 from the Crosby Boulevard exit to the Interstate 5 interchange. The signs indicate that the speed has been lowered from 60mph to 45mph in the area. According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill, the reduction is part of a request to reduce the excessive number of accidents in the area and increase public safety.

“This all boils down to public safety. We believe that lowering the speed limit there is going to reduce collisions and that’s our goal,” Trooper Gill said.

The final decision to lower the speed limit in the area of mile marker 367, which has seen 134 accidents over the past year, was made by State Department of Transportation traffic engineer John Nisbet. The decision has met some criticism by locals and commuters that do not believe the reduction is necessary, but overall the public reaction has been in support of the change.

Troopers will be “using the minimum amount of enforcement necessary” over the next month. The 30-day grace period will see troopers enforcing the new speed limit with verbal warnings, however those traveling at excessive speeds will still receive tickets, as will those involved in collisions while exceeding the newly posted limit.

As an Olympia car accident lawyer, I’m glad to learn of the WSDOT effort to reduce accidents in our area. If you’ve been injured in an accident that you think was the result of the negligent actions of another driver, speaking with a car accident lawyer in your city will help shed light on the legal options available to you.

Fatal Snoqualmie Pass Accident Blamed on Distracted Driving

News agencies reported that a series of collisions that occurred on Snoqualmie Pass Monday morning that left an elderly couple dead and injured several others is being attributed to a truck driver’s inattention.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 64-year-old truck driver was traveling on Interstate 90, 26 miles west of Cle Elum, in his 2006 Peterbilt tractor truck and trailer when he slammed into the rear end of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, sparking a series of accidents. The Jeep then crashed into a semi-truck, which in turn struck a sedan which then struck the rear of another semi-truck at approximately 10:50am Monday. The vehicles were reportedly stopped for slowed traffic on the interstate.

The 64-year-old driver was not injured in the accident and was wearing his seat belt. The 68-year-old driver and his 73-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident when their Jeep was smashed from behind by the Peterbilt. The 46-year-old driver of the semi-truck initially hit was not injured in the accident. However, the 47-year-old female driver of the sedan was transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of her injuries along with her 35-year-old, 32-year-old and 43-year-old passengers. The 32-year-old driver of the center semi-truck was taken to an Ellensburg hospital for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.

Officials have determined that the accident was caused by the 64-year-old truck driver’s inattention, due to the fact that he did not slow for stopped traffic. Troopers are continuing their investigation into the crash prior to pursuing charges against the driver.

As a Bellevue car accident attorney, I’m saddened at the news of this tragic accident. In my years as a car accident lawyer, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects that similar accidents have had on the friends and family members left behind. I pray that they have the support they need as they mourn their loss and my heartfelt condolences go out to them at this time.

Lynnwood I-5 Car-Big Rig Accident Injures Man, Child

Media sources reports that a 19-year-old Lynnwood man and his 12-year-old passenger were moderately injured in an accident on Interstate 5 in Lynnwood Monday night.

According to Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary, the accident occurred during the evening commute in the southbound traffic lanes of Interstate 5 near 164th Street SW in Lynnwood. Authorities believe the 19-year-old driver was traveling in the left lanes when, for unknown reasons, his Honda struck the center interstate barrier. The impact forced the driver to lose control of the vehicle and cross all traffic lanes and strike a big rig trailer. The Honda became wedged underneath the wheels of the big rig’s trailer and was dragged for roughly 700 feet before the vehicle was able to stop.

The 19-year-old driver and 12-year-old passenger were transported to a Seattle hospital for the treatment of moderate injuries. The 19-year-old was treated and released within the same night, however the 12-year-old remained hospitalized well into Thursday. Updates on their condition were not available at the time of this release. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the accident.

Washington State Patrol officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident and suspect that the incident may have been a possible vehicular assault. At the moment, unsafe lane changing is suspected as a contributing factor to the crash.

As a Bellevue car accident lawyer, I’m relieved to learn that both victims are recovering from their injuries. I wish both of them a speedy recovery so that they may put this incident behind them. If you’ve been injured in an accident as the result of the negligent driving of another, speak with a car accident lawyer in your town to learn more about the legal options open to you.
