Hit-and-Run Driver Kills 11-year-old Boy

An 11-year-old boy was killed by a hit-and-run driver while he was walking to school this morning, according to recent news sources.

The accident occurred at Yakima Valley Highway at the 1900 block. The boy was heading to his morning bus stop and turned to cross back when the vehicle hit him.

Witnesses described the vehicle as being a small silver or gray pickup truck. According to them, the driver did stop to check his vehicle for damage, but got back in and exited from the scene.

Washington State Patrol is on the lookout for this vehicle. If you have seen a small Chevy silver or gray pickup with damage to the front headlights and grill, please contact Washington State Patrol.

According to the neighborhood, the area is a place where speeding often occurs. Children walking to school have often thought to be in danger in this area.

As a Tacoma personal injury attorney, I am so sorry to hear of this loss of life. I offer my sincere sympathy and prayers to the family of this child. I hope that the Washington State Patrol finds the man responsible for this terrible tragedy. In my experience as a personal injury attorney in Seattle, I’ve seen many tragedies like this. I urge drivers to slow their speed when they’re in an area with pedestrian traffic. Even lowering your speed by just ten miles can seriously reduce the likelihood of fatality in the event of a crash.

Hit-And-Run Driver Charged with DUI, Vehicular Assault

A driver who left the scene of an accident on Saturday night has been charged with hit-and-run, vehicular assault, and driving under the influence, according to news sources.

The accident occurred on State Route 14 in Klickitat County around 7:50 p.m. The suspected drunk driver was heading eastbound in her Honda CRV when she crossed over and hit a 58-year-old female driving a Geo Metro. The Geo Metro careened into the ditch, and the 53-year-old driver of the Honda left the accident. Patrol stopped her soon after she left.

The victim was transported to Skyline Hospital to be treated for broken ribs, an ankle injury, and some cuts and bruises. The suspect was treated for a head injury.

As an auto accident lawyer in Renton, I’m glad to hear that none of the injuries received were fatal, and that this woman was apprehended before any other injuries occurred. In my experience as a car accident attorney in Vancouver, often the outcome of a drunken driving incident is far more serious and often tragic. I hope this woman is able to recover and realize the implications her actions could have had. If you have been injured in a car accident and it was someone else’s fault, it’s in your best interest to speak with a personal injury attorney to help you proceed with your case.
