Raw Cookie Dough Behind E. Coli Outbreak

According to several news sources, dairy products or raw eggs didn’t cause the recent E coli outbreak across the nation like the authorities previously thought. Studies prove that raw flour present in prepackaged cookie dough was the real responsible resource of contaminated material.

The study was conducted by the Clinical Infectious Diseases journal and it discovered that the outbreak from 2009 of E. coli originated with the cookie dough that is distributed in several stores nationwide. The news show that over 70 people were allegedly reported to carry illnesses related to the contamination.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating the ingredient that is responsible for the contaminated cookie dough. Researches firmly believe that the raw flour is the only ingredient that may have gone under the radar while carrying the E. coli bacteria since eggs, sugar and molasses go through a process that kills several pathogens while raw flour doesn’t.

As an Olympia personal injury lawyer I urge all consumers to follow all recall news up closely. If you’re the victim of the negligence of a company that has produced contaminated food items before and that has risked your life or the life of a loved one, do not hesitate and contact a personal injury lawyer to answer to all of your questions regarding your personal injury case.

FDA Issues A Dog Food Alert

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is releasing a National warning regarding a certain kind of chicken strips or treats that can pose serious health hazards for dogs.

According to recent news, there are some cases the contaminated strips can present life-threatening risks to pets.

The products that have been under investigation are marketed mostly as chicken tenders, treats or strips. The number of complaints regarding the several canine illnesses caused by the consumption of the alleged contaminated treats is increasing, pushing the FDA to look into the matter with more dedication and attention.

The FDA assures consumers the probably contaminated product is manufactured only in China. Some of the health issues linked to these products include an increase of sugar in the dog’s blood (Fanconi syndrome) and kidney failure. Sick animals sustain certain symptoms like vomiting, decreased activity, diarrhea and increased water consumption.

As a Federal Way personal injury lawyer, I urge pet owners in Washington to make sure the treats they purchase come from trustworthy sources.

Beef Jerky Recalled after Salmonella Scare

There have been different news sources claiming that the popular Beef Jerky manufactured by the Texas-based company Whittington’s Jerky Inc. is being recalled. Salmonella contamination is claimed to be the cause for this recall.

According to the news, over 120 pounds of beef jerky might be contaminated with the powerful bacteria. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Satefy and Inspection Service claim that both 2oz and 4oz packages of Beef Jerky sold in convenience stores in West Texas should not be consumed, if you have purchased any of these items return them immediately.

Salmonella is a dangerous bacterium that may cause one of the most life-threatening food borne illnesses to humans who have weak immune systems.

As a Seattle wrongful death attorney I hope that nobody will be affected by the contaminated beef jerky. Although this is an issue for residents of the state of Texas, Washingtonians should always be alert of different food recalls in the case the issue hits home.

Whenever a person has put under a major health risk because of a contaminated food sample, it is important that a personal injury lawyer will be contacted right away. Instead of waiting for answers from the company that has caused your problems, look for an experienced attorney to answer to the questions related to your case.

Farmed Fish Not Contaminated, FDA Announces

According to the news and recent FDA announcements, the Washington State farmed fish that may have eaten recalled feed that was imported show no traces of contamination. The FDA stated that Chinese ingredients used in the fish feed should be safe to eat.

The two farms that used this item to nourish their fish preferred to keep their product off the market due to contamination fears. They waited until all the tests could be fulfilled so they would know for sure it was safe to sell their fish.

According to the commissioner for food protection, all fish tested from both Washington State and Hawaii are safe for consumption.

The allegedly contaminated feed that stirred the fear of many was also sold over 190 fish hatcheries but since the fish in question are small and the questionable feed was recalled, there shouldn’t be any more concerns related to this matter.

The feed was claimed to be contaminated with Melamine which can be blamed for the deaths of  a number of cats and dogs. These deaths were followed by the recall of several pet food brands.

After the discovery, over 40 shipments containing alleged contaminated protein concentrate from China were intercepted until the producers are able to prove all the material is melamine free.

As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I hope that nobody will fall sick after eating a contaminated item. Make sure to return to this blog to hear more news regarding product recalls and remember, if you’re ever exposed to contaminated food, don’t hesitate in contacting a personal injury lawyer.

Commercial Meat Ground Beef Recalled Due to E. Coli

In a press release, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a warning Tuesday concerning the recall of more than 180 tons of ground beef from Commercial Meat Co. due to the possible contamination of E. Coli bacterium.

The affected ground beef was produced between September 7 and October 6 of this year and was distributed throughout the western United States, though mainly in California and Nevada. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the routine monitoring of products from the company discovered the presence of E. Coli bacteria in multiple bulk packages of ground beef, including those used for patties, taco meat and beef chili products.

To date, neither the FSIS nor the company has received any reports of illness stemming from the affected beef. However, the FSIS warns that the E. Coli bacteria can result in illness, with symptoms including bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and in rare, severe instances, kidney failure. This illness can be particularly dangerous for children, the elderly and other with weakened immune systems.

As a Tacoma personal injury lawyer, I’ve seen similar recalls in the past and understand the severity of the illnesses they can cause. If you’ve been injured through the consumption of a contaminated food product, consult a local personal injury lawyer to discuss your rights as a consumer.
