Chemical Spill Forces Closure of 5 Freeway in Orange County

Authorities closed a portion of Interstate 5 to traffic after a chemical spill created hazardous conditions on the highway. According to news reports, a hazardous material unit with the Orange County Fire Authority determined that approximately six gallons of muriatic acid spilled off a truck. Apparently the California Highway Patrol began receiving reports of the spill emitting strong fumes in traffic lanes.

Emergency services shut down all lanes of the highway to allow HazMat teams to clean-up the area. A SigAlert was declared as traffic came to complete standstill between San Juan Creek Road and Camino Capistrano. No injuries were reported from the toxic fumes and nearby businesses did not need to be evacuated.

As an Orange County personal injury lawyer I urge motorists to alert emergency services by  calling 911 to report hazardous material or debris that may cause dangerous driving conditions for commuters. If you or a loved one were hurt in a car accident in California, speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer to discuss your legal options.

Shafter sees 3 of its residents killed in preventable crashes

A man killed in a car accident in Shafter, California, who was remembered by a friend as a godly man, is another victim of a casualty that could happen to any of us, local news reported.

As a Los Angeles car accident attorney I know that stop signs are there to be lawfully respected but sometimes, not even all the attention in the world will be enough. Intersections referred to as blind crossroads, may have different hurdles that block your perception of what’s coming ahead. That is what allegedly happened to this Shafter resident who was hit by a pick-up truck while driving his compact car.

Physical obstacles may be a hassle but sometimes, checking the traffic before a major shift can prevent accidents like the one involving a woman trying to perform a U-turn. Her car was hit by a semi tractor-trailer and allegedly died at the spot.

Around the same region, another man was also involved in a deadly accident when he hit his car onto a tree. Local news reported that the driver was claimed to not be wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. In any of these cases, a personal injury lawyer is perfectly capable of helping all of those involved in these unfortunate events.

2 Dead in Major Fresno Motorcycle Accident

Two people lost their lives in a major motorcycle accident in Fresno yesterday. According to news reports, the crash happened when a man riding a motorcycle collided with a Cadillac that was making a left turn into a private driveway. The biker was launched off the motorcycle and hit the pavement. The motorcycle rider died from his injuries. An elderly passenger in the Cadillac died in the vehicle crash as well.

Accident investigators are looking into the cause of the collision. Paramedics treated the elderly driver of the Cadillac for minor injuries sustained in the auto accident. The local community in Fresno is mourning the loss of the crash victims and plans are in place to hold a vigil for the deceased biker soon.

As a Fresno motorcycle accident lawyer I urge motorists to always take great care when driving near a motorcycle rider. Bikes lack many of the safety mechanisms available on other vehicles, leaving the rider susceptible to injuries in the event of a crash. If you or a loved one were hurt in a motorcycle crash, speak to an experienced personal injury lawyer to discuss the legal options available to you.

Police Arrest Fleeing Suspect in High Speed Pursuit

A man was arrested after leading police on an hour long high speed chase through the city streets of Salinas. According to news reports, the chase began around 3 am when police attempted to pull over the driver of a Honda for speeding. The driver sped of, attempting to flee from police by weaving in and out of traffic and speeding through residential streets.

After discovering that the police chase suspect was driving a stolen car, officers laid out a spike strip ahead of the pursuit. The spike strip blew out the vehicle’s tires, causing the car to come to stop. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and arrested by police officers that swarmed the area.

As a Petaluma personal injury lawyer I urge motorists to never attempt to evade a police officer. Fleeing from the police puts you and other motorists at great risk of harm, not to mention it is highly illegal. If you or a loved one were hurt in an auto accident, speak with a personal injury lawyer to discuss your legal options.

Man Dies From Collision with Two Semis

A 59-year-old man was killed Wednesday when his pickup truck ran into two semi-trucks, according to news sources.

The accident occurred on State Route 17. The victim, a Warden resident, was driving a 2008 Lincoln Mark LT pickup southbound, just south of Othello. The 59-year-old apparently crossed the center divider to avoid hitting a semi-truck, which was stopped in order to turn left. When he changed lanes, he hit a northbound semi-truck driven by a 33-year-old from Texas, according to Washington State Patrol.

The impact caused him to run into the semi-truck he had initially attempted to avoid, driven by a 32-year-old from Moses Lake.

Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, according to reports.

The cause of the crash is believed to be the inattention of the pickup driver. No charges are being filed.

As a Tacoma auto accident lawyer, I’m very sorry to hear of this man’s passing and I offer my sincere sympathies and condolences to his family and loved ones. Sometimes, even a seat belt cannot save a life. In my experience as a auto accident attorney in Bellevue, I have seen that taking your eyes away from the road even for a moment can have tragic consequences. I urge all drivers to maintain safe driving, refraining from any activities that might be distracting.
