Busy Holiday Season For State Troopers, 300 DUI’s Reported

Thanksgiving was surely a busy time for Washington State Troopers, according to an official report from the Washington State Patrol.

The news says motorists throughout the state of Washington were closely monitored during the four-day weekend and the result was the sad recognition that drunken drivers insist on putting the lives of others at risk.

Official statements from the authorities show that over three hundred people were arrested due to DUI offenses over the Thanksgiving holiday. State troopers from Oregon have also declared they made 72 arrests related to drinking and driving during the weekend.

According to numbers released by news articles, this year saw a 65 percent jump in DUI related arrests from last year’s number.

As a Seattle auto accident attorney I urge all motorists to remember they’re not only risking their lives whenever they engage in the reckless behavior of drinking and driving, they’re risking the lives of countless others.

A personal injury lawyer in the Washington state is always ready to answer to any questions to those involved in an accident caused by a third party.

Drinking and driving is wrong, do not be the victim of the thoughtlessness of others, contact a personal injury lawyer in area right away.

Cell-Phone Ban Is A Strong First Step But Shouldn’t Be The Last

Most commercial bus and truck drivers know all handheld cell phone use while at the wheel has been banned. Many different news sources say that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration or FMCSA put the ban in place after a need to emphasize that no cell phones were to be used during the time drivers were supposed to keep their eyes on the road.

Critics claim that while this regulation is a strong first step in the struggle to eradicate accidents related to distracted driving, it shouldn’t be the only one. Road education is the real issue and it should be taken seriously by the authorities according to an official from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.

As a matter of fact, distracted driving encompasses not only the occasional use of handheld devices but also many other factors that haven’t even been openly discussed by most authorities. News sources say a culture change for all types of drivers is the only way to go about creating a safer traffic for all.

Curbing risky behaviors is effective but there must be an extensive effort to educate the entire population about traffic laws and the dangers of distracted driving.

As a Renton car accident attorney I hope that other agencies like the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will do more to educate the population. Contact a personal injury attorney so you can ask any questions regarding a personal injury case but do so as soon as it happens, don’t delay.

The positive approach of the videos in this campaign embed a responsible attitude into the safe driving message, the idea is to keep it from making it boring to teenagers.

Effectiveness of Ban Against Cell Phones While Driving Put to Test

Personal injury lawyers understand that using the cell phone while one’s behind the wheel can cause severe or even fatal accidents. Talking or texting while driving isn’t just a distraction, it’s a life-threatening risk.

Even though we are all very aware of these facts, the ban on cell phone use hasn’t been allegedly proved to be as effective as we once thought it would be. According to many news sources, the evidence is simply not conclusive. The reports from the many authorities investigating this show no significant change in the number of crashes due to less cell phone usage on the road.

The news have also stated that the number of cell phones in use since the year of 1990 went from 4 million to 322 million but the number of general car accidents has lowered.

The States where the cell phone usage was banned have seen no difference in the number of crashes, reports the Highway Loss Data Institute. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has noticed an increase in accident claims from drivers hiding their texting because of the ban.

As a Seattle car accident attorney, I understand that distracted driving can lead to many fatal accidents but maybe all we need is some more time to really understand the consequences of the cell phone ban.

Whenever a loved one is involved in an accident that was caused by a distracted driver, don’t hesitate and contact a personal injury lawyer right away.

Man Allegedly Loses His Life in A Possible DUI Accident

Reports from the Washington State Patrol claim that sometime after 7 a.m. on Monday, there was a one-vehicle accident on State Route 164 that sadly claimed the life of one man while leaving another man injured. News sources didn’t disclose how severe were the injuries the man sustained.

The news reports that a Bonney Lake resident, who was 26 years old at the time of the crash, was driving eastbound on SR 164. Authorities say that the driver was under the influence, which might have caused his sudden crossing to the westbound lanes that led his vehicle to leave the road and hit multiple trees.

The passenger in the car, a 27-year-old man from Kirkland was injured by the time the Washington State Patrol arrived; he was taken to the hospital immediately. According to official reports, the driver who was tragically killed was not wearing his seat belt while the passenger was.

As a Kirkland car accident lawyer, I hope that the passenger who was involved in this fatal accident may recover quickly and without any major hassles. He must know that at this time he should have the assistance of a personal injury lawyer throughout the process.

Program Will Focus On Making Traffic Safer

Morning news reported that the San Rafael Police Department in California has received a grant for a new program to promote traffic safety. It will go on through the entire year. The project hopes to educate people so injuries and deaths related to traffic won’t happen in the future.

The OTS (Office of Traffic Safety) awarded the San Rafael Police an amount of $129,992 after the city showed they focused all their efforts into a better quality of life and traffic safety measures.

This grant is a proof from the department that their hard work are not in vain. The commitment to maintaining the roads safe through education and enforcement is going stronger than ever.

Reports from the authorities show the number of fatalities related to traffic has lowered in the State of California. Officials say that although DUI deaths have declined a great deal, they remain the number one cause of traffic deaths.

The activities the awarded grant will target are numerous but mostly on motorcycle safety, red light running, drivers with revoked/suspended licenses, DUI offenders and speeding.

As a Seattle car accident lawyer I strongly maintain that efforts to educate the population on road safety are necessary. Remember, you can always count on a personal injury lawyer near you to answer your questions about car accidents you may be involved with that weren’t caused by you.

Officers Cleared from Accusations after Loud-party Dispute

According to the local news, the federal-court jury has concluded that two Seattle police officers are not guilty to the charges pressed against them. The two officers were allegedly being sued for an accusation related to a loud party that took place in a Queen Anne home back in 2008.

The incident happened when authorities were called to intervene in a loud-party case. What the two officers hadn’t realized was that the two young brothers who were present at the party would be capable of trying to damage their careers later on.

Until this moment both sides argue that they were only acting in self-defense. The officers were considered not guilty and the charges pressed against the brothers who were previously charged with felony assault on an officer were dropped. Insufficient proof is claimed to be the main reason behind the dropping of all charges pressed against the twins but few details regarding the questionable evening are widely known.

As a Seattle personal injury attorney I hope authorities are doing their best to uphold the law and remain fair to all of those involved in this incident. Remember that in any case of personal assault against you or a loved one, you should always contact a professional and reliable personal injury lawyer to edify your doubts regarding your case before acting.

Woman allegedly involved in Speeding-related Crash shows Satisfactory Condition

According to the reports released by the Washington State Patrol and other news sources, a 27 year-old woman who was allegedly driving above the speed limits last Wednesday night on Interstate 205, crashed her vehicle.

The bulletin released by the authorities show that the woman’s vehicle was merging onto the southbound lanes sometime after 8 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle, hit a concrete barrier and unfortunately overturned. The accident happened right off the Glen Jackson Bridge.

As soon as the emergency units arrived, the woman was allegedly taken to a Medical Center sustaining a head injury and lacerations to her left arm. The Hospital stated that the woman is in a satisfactory condition. No other details were disclosed regarding the accident nor the victim.

As a Seattle car accident attorney I urge all drivers from the great State of Washington to always respect the speed limitations of the road you’re traveling on.

Most of the severe accidents I am familiar with are caused by the reckless driving of others. Whenever you need questions regarding an accident caused by distracted or imprudent driving, don’t hesitate to ask for the help of a personal injury lawyer in your area.

Southbound Hwy-101 Gets Much Anticipated Speed Reduction

News sources reported that the Washington State Department of Transportation posted new speed limit signs on the southbound side of Highway 101 in Olympia Tuesday in the effort of reducing traffic accidents.

The reduction in speed affects only the southbound lanes of Highway 101 from the Crosby Boulevard exit to the Interstate 5 interchange. The signs indicate that the speed has been lowered from 60mph to 45mph in the area. According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill, the reduction is part of a request to reduce the excessive number of accidents in the area and increase public safety.

“This all boils down to public safety. We believe that lowering the speed limit there is going to reduce collisions and that’s our goal,” Trooper Gill said.

The final decision to lower the speed limit in the area of mile marker 367, which has seen 134 accidents over the past year, was made by State Department of Transportation traffic engineer John Nisbet. The decision has met some criticism by locals and commuters that do not believe the reduction is necessary, but overall the public reaction has been in support of the change.

Troopers will be “using the minimum amount of enforcement necessary” over the next month. The 30-day grace period will see troopers enforcing the new speed limit with verbal warnings, however those traveling at excessive speeds will still receive tickets, as will those involved in collisions while exceeding the newly posted limit.

As an Olympia car accident lawyer, I’m glad to learn of the WSDOT effort to reduce accidents in our area. If you’ve been injured in an accident that you think was the result of the negligent actions of another driver, speaking with a car accident lawyer in your city will help shed light on the legal options available to you.
